I had fun making these net levels, even though I can't play net Marathon :(
If you have any comments about them, let me hear them! Also, if you have any films of these net levels that you are proud of or think that are funny, you can also e-mail them to me. I would love to see some great net films!
Sloppy Joe:
Get all the ammo that you can fast. Then, it would probally be best to hide out around the corner in the shadows. The room with the giant pillars would be ideal for this. If the troopers are annoying you, go down the down spiral staircase and at the bottom there is a secret door that leads to an elevator. Go up the elevator and close the door to the room full of troopers (the door is in an open position and looks like blue stripes). The troopers can't open the door, so they're stuck untill somebody else opens it!
Leap of Faith!:
Get all the ammo and guns that you can carry at the start as well as the invincibility power-up in the middle room. Get on the red wavy octagon floor panel and get teleported. Check your height, if you are in a lower sniper ledge, try the teleporter again. If you are higher, watch your motion sensor. You should also watch the other ledges, if someone teleports in one, blast them! Don't let off guard though, sometimes the S'pht will fly up to greet you. After you have run out of ammo, drop down and get some more (get the invincibility first).
Castle Anthrax:
Castle Anthrax is a great team-netplay level. Go for the Castle (run right over the green stuff). Once inside, go up and turn around, get 2x healed. Watch out for enemies trying to get into the castle. If outside, raid the castle with speed and accuracy.
The best advice for this level is communication. Talk to your teammates and think up stratigies. This can be a great thinking level, but to no loss of action!
4 Score & 7 Deaths Ago...:
This map would probally be best for a few players. Get the ammo in the middle, then walk onto the middle polygon (that is lit up) and teleport up to a ledge. Then just aim and let fly! This level has no spanker, it would ruin the fun.
BOBs 'R' Us!:
This level has most of its weapons and ammo randomly placed. Go to the room with the small "table" with the lava texture and pick up your SPNKR and your TOZT. You can also turn the lights off using a switch located on one of the pillars. Beware the M.A.D.D.s, some might be mad!
Run Forest! RUN!:
Ever think you were TOUGH? Now's the chance to see just how tough you REALLY are. Get a full load of missiles and a launcher and drop down into the room for a visit. You HAVE TO play this on TOTAL CARNAGE!!! It's just you, the aliens, and your SSM launcher. The best thing to do in this level can easily vary. If you are playing on one anothers side to help kill the aliens, the best advise would be to aim down when you shoot. Don't shoot across the middle room, incase you miss, you might splatter your friend across the room. Definitly DON'T fall into the middle room, there is no way out.
Try flipping the switches along the hallway, then watch the poor monsters get squashed like mosquitoes!
Honey, I Blew Up the Kids!:
(This is a great network level for many people.) If you start out in a dark room with a gaint lava pit nearby, get the assault rifle (by the side of the stairs) and go get the SSM launcher. Go back to the room with the lava pit and look down. You should see a invincibility powerup, get it. Use your missile launcher and aim it down and towards one of the pillars (with your back towards the ledge that you dropped from. Blast your self back up, it should only take 1 missile.
Find the room with the ledges surrounding it and with the windows and jump down and get the invisibilities. Now find a dark place and wait for your friends ;)
The Game:
This network level has a plot, sort of. You are in an arena fighting your friends, but this is an alien arena and the Pfhor watch you from hidden cameras. It's their version of Sunday Football.
The best advice for this level would be to stay away from as many people possible. The arena is large, so you can wait in a corner and let people kill eachother, then occasionally run out and kick their butts. Watch out for the wasps!
I Wanna See Stars!:
I've given you hints and tips for 8 other network levels. So find out for yourself. (Expect ME to hold your hand before playing every level).
The title of this level is appropriete, you'll see plenty of stars, and rockets!
Kill the SSM Guy:
The object of this level is to test your survival skills. There is one SSM launcher, and it is located in the middle of the arena. When one player gets it the others are supposed to kill him, then another SSM launcher will appear in the middle. The guy with the SSM launcher will try to stay alive as long as possible. This is sort of like "Kill the Guy with the Skull" net play in Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity.
Stop Looking at Me!:
This is a simple level that doesn't take much brain power to figure out what to do. The only advice I have is to come at the S'pht at their sides. Once inside their little lit-up poly, they can become awake (if they see you come in).
Solo (The Burning of Eden)
I will only give you some general tips for the solo game. I can't spoil everything. For the first level, watch the demo films, there should be two. The most important rules are:
